Exceptional Creative and Performing Arts Opportunities

Grafton Public School is renowned for its outstanding Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) programs, led by Mr Tim Keogh, an experienced educator with more than 30 years of expertise in music and performing arts education.

Students have access to a diverse range of ensembles and performance opportunities, including Concert Band, Beginner Band, Infants, Junior and Senior Dance Ensembles, Junior and Senior Choir, and both Infants and Primary Cultural Dance groups. These programs provide students with opportunities to develop confidence, creativity, teamwork and performance skills from their earliest years of schooling.

A unique highlight of our school is the Grafton Public School Creative Arts Tour. This one-of-a-kind experience provides students with the opportunity to perform across New South Wales and in Australia's capital cities, showcasing their talents while building lifelong memories, cultural awareness and confidence on a national stage.

Inclusive Education for Every Learner

Grafton Public School is proud to be a leader in inclusive education, with seven specialised Inclusive Classes that support students with a diverse range of learning and support needs.

Our highly skilled teachers and support staff possess extensive expertise in supporting and extending students with intellectual, physical, social and emotional disabilities. Individualised learning programs, evidence-based practices and strong partnerships with families ensure that every student is provided with the opportunity to achieve their personal best.

Our inclusive approach fosters a culture of acceptance, respect and belonging, where all students are valued members of our school community. Through targeted support, meaningful inclusion and high expectations, we empower every learner to grow in confidence, independence and success.

A Unique Two-Campus Learning Journey

Grafton Public School offers a distinctive learning environment through its split-campus design, with our Infants Campus (Kindergarten to Year 2) located on one side of the road and our Primary Campus (Years 3 to 6) on the other.

As students transition to the Primary Campus, they are introduced to a broader range of opportunities that promote leadership, responsibility and independence. Students can access a variety of High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) opportunities, including our highly successful Year 5/6 Enrichment Class, designed to challenge and extend learners across a range of academic domains.

Our commitment to successful transitions extends beyond primary school. Through strong partnerships with our local feeder high school, Grafton High School, students participate in comprehensive transition programs that support a confident and successful move into secondary education.

Grafton Public School is a beautiful, well-maintained school with friendly, caring teachers and staff. It provides a supportive environment with excellent education, a wide range of sporting opportunities, and many ways for students to be involved in teams through dance, choir, band, and more.

Rach a parent of GPS

Prior to meeting the staff at GPS, I did not believe that my son could access public education; and certainly never dreamed that he could be nurtured inside the safe, caring and supportive space they have created to ensure all our children thrive. Due to the dedication of the staff, I know and more importantly my child knows; that his socio-emotional and academic growth is important to his teachers; that he is safe and that he is in the very best place for him to thrive.

Kellie - parent of child in an Inclusive Class

Our kids absolutely love GPS! The band program is a real standout – they’ve had so many amazing opportunities, from excursions to performing at local events. It’s been such a positive and rewarding experience. In our opinion, it’s the best program around!
