Inclusive Class Hubs
At Grafton Public School, our Inclusive Class Hubs provide high-quality, personalised education for students with mild, moderate and high learning and support needs, in line with the NSW Department of Education's disability criteria.
Our Hub classes have smaller class sizes, allowing teachers and School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) to provide individualised support that meets each student's unique learning needs. Every Hub is staffed by a qualified teacher and an SLSO who work together to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Teachers work in partnership with parents and carers and, where appropriate, allied health professionals to develop personalised learning programs that build on each student's strengths, interests and goals. Every student has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that guides their learning journey and is regularly reviewed to celebrate progress and ensure the best possible outcomes.

Our Inclusive Class Hubs support students with a range of learning and support needs, including:
- Intellectual disability
- Autism
- Speech and language disorders
- Physical disability
- Sensory impairment
- Mental health needs
- Emotional and behavioural disorders
Placement in an Inclusive Class Hub is determined through the NSW Department of Education's placement process to ensure each student receives the most appropriate educational setting and support.

Our teaching programs focus on developing literacy, numeracy, communication, independence and social skills while building students' confidence and resilience. Teachers make appropriate adjustments to teaching and learning so every student can access the curriculum, experience success and reach their full potential.
Students in our Inclusive Class Hubs are valued members of the Grafton Public School community. They participate in a wide range of school and community activities alongside their peers, fostering inclusion, belonging and meaningful connections. We are committed to working closely with families to ensure every child receives the support they need to flourish throughout their school journey and beyond.
How students access our inclusive class hubs
Placement in our inclusive class hubs follow an access request process. This helps us understand each student’s needs and plan the right support. The process usually includes:
- Meeting with our learning support team to talk about your child’s needs
- Providing documents or assessments
- Review and recommendation by a specialist panel
- Creating an individual education plan (IEP) for your child

How we work with families and specialists
We work closely with families and specialists to support every student. Our teachers stay in touch with parents and carers to share progress and plan next steps.
We also work with therapists, counsellors and health professionals so students get the same support across school and home.
