Relieving Principals Report
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I am excited to share with you some of the wonderful opportunities our students have recently experienced. It has been a busy and inspiring term, full of hands-on learning and fun activities that bring education to life.
Last week, our Kindergarten and Year 1 students had a special visit from the local 306 Fire and Rescue Service! The firefighters came to talk about fire safety, and the kids were absolutely captivated. They got to see the gear firefighters use, ask lots of questions, and learn important safety tips. It was a fantastic way to teach our youngest learners about staying safe, and the excitement on their faces was priceless. I am sure these lessons will stick with them for a long time.
Our Stage 2 and 3 students have been involved in the UNE Discovery science lessons, which have been a real highlight. These sessions bring science to life through hands-on experiments and interactive learning. The students have been investigating everything from ecosystems to chemical reactions, asking great questions and working together to solve problems. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm grow as they explore science in ways that go beyond the textbook. Many of the teachers have commented on how engaged the students have been.
Today, we are celebrating one of our favourite events, the Book Character Parade! The whole school has come alive with colourful costumes and creative outfits inspired by beloved book characters. It’s wonderful to see the children (and staff) so excited about dressing up and sharing their favourite stories with friends. Events like this remind us all how important it is to foster a love of reading and imagination. The energy around the school has been wonderful, with smiles everywhere.
Looking ahead, I am excited to share that our Band, Dance, and Choir groups are preparing to head off to Brisbane next week for the annual CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) excursion. This is a fantastic opportunity for our talented students to showcase their skills, work with other young performers, and experience a range of performances and workshops. It is a highlight of the year and a great way for our students to build confidence, teamwork and a deeper appreciation for the arts. We wish them all the best as they represent Grafton Public School with pride.
These activities are just a few examples of the many ways we are working to provide a rich and varied learning environment at Grafton Public School. I want to thank our dedicated staff, parents and community members for their ongoing support in making these opportunities possible. Together, we are helping our students grow, learn and enjoy their time at school.
Warm regards,
Nick Campbell
