Enrol in Kindergarten

How to enrol

Is your child starting school next year? Follow these steps to enrol your child.

  1. Check Eligibility
    Your child can start kindergarten if they turn 5 on or before 31 July in the year they begin school. All children must be enrolled in school by their 6th birthday.

  2. Determine Your Local School
    Use the School Finder  tool to identify your designated local public school. Most schools have designated enrolment areas, but some may accept out-of-area enrolments depending on capacity.

  3. Submit an Online Application
    Enrol online

  4. Prepare Required Documents
    Bring necessary documents to your appointment, such as:

    • Proof of your child's age (e.g., birth certificate or passport)
    • Proof of address (e.g., lease agreement, utility bill)
    • Immunisation history statement
    • Any relevant medical or learning support information

School contributions

In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.
